Soap Berries for Washing Laundry

$20.00Price

Soap Berries are a berry shell that naturally contain soap. They grow on the Sapindus mukorossi (Soap Berry) tree in the Himalayas.    The natural soap found in these berries is called saponin. Saponin is a natural cleaner that works as a surfactant, breaking the surface tension of the water to penetrate the fibers of your clothing, lifting stains from the fabric, and leaving dirt suspended in the water that is rinsed away.

Our premium grade Soap Berries are inspected for proper color, size, tackiness and irregularities - removing any that don't meet our standards. We sort them by hand, removing stems, seeds, foreign debris and/or leaves. Don’t settle for cheap imitations - our Soap Berries are whole shells, not half-shells and pieces. They are the easiest for measuring when using the traditional wash-bag method for laundry.

Soap Berries are gentle on both clothes and skin, making them ideal for those with sensitive skin, eczema, allergies and psoriasis. Because they are so mild, they are perfect for baby clothes and even cloth diapers. All-Natural Soap Berries are also great for septic and grey water systems. Unlike commercial soaps that have artificial foaming agents, Soap Berries do not produce lots of bubbles or foam.

Soap Berries are from a fruit tree and are not nuts. They are completely nut allergy safe. They are sometimes called soap “nuts” because of the way that they dry into hard shells resembling nuts, as opposed to squishy fruit.

You’ll notice clothing is noticeably fluffier and softer because of the Soap Berries’ ability to gently loosen fibers. Chemical detergents can beat and weaken fibers resulting in your clothes and towels “wearing out” much sooner.   Try Soap Berries and you’ll notice less pilling on your fabrics and extended overall life of textiles.   Get softer fabrics AND save money, too!

During the rinse cycle a small amount of saponin (the soap) is released which acts as a natural fabric softener – opening up the fabric fibers instead of leaving a residue. No need to take out before the rinse- leave it in the whole time. Because it is a natural soap and not a synthetic chemical, it will not leave a grime on the fabrics as you would expect with regular detergent, making Soap Berries a great choice for sensitive skin.

Traditional soap is made with oils and lye, and can cause buildup in your washing machine and can leave a residue on fabrics.  This is also the case with many recipes online for homemade laundry detergent that call for Fels Naptha or other bar soaps.   Soap Berries contain saponin.  Soap Berries leave little to no residue and can even remove residue buildup left by other products.
